Stephen S. Everett was appointed to the Leon County bench in 2016 and elected in 2018. He was elevated to the Second Circuit bench in 2019 and elected in 2020. Before serving as a judge, Everett practiced criminal and civil law, working on cases ranging from murder to complex multi-million dollar contract disputes.

Judge Everett is currently assigned to a felony criminal docket and serves as the criminal administrative judge. He has presided over more than 10,000 cases, 175 trials, and maintains a 95% appellate affirmance rate. Everett is involved in voluntary bar associations, civic organizations, participates in committee work with the Florida Bar, and teaches at judicial education events.

Judge Everett received the Richard W. Ervin Equal Justice Award in 2019 and was named jurist of the year by the American Board of Trial Advocates, Tallahassee Chapter, in 2023.
